Guide to difficulty levels

Difficulty Levels

All CamijoKnits patterns are marked with a difficulty level from 1 to 5 stars. The difficulty level is intended as a guide to help you choose the project that best suits your experience level.

There are many skilled knitters who have never tried all techniques, and many techniques are easier than they sound. Therefore, the difficulty levels should be seen as a guide and not as strict rules.

★ Beginner

For those who are new to knitting or are still learning the basic techniques.

Patterns at this level only require basic skills such as knit and purl, casting on, binding off, and simple increases and decreases.

★★ Easy Intermediate

For those who are comfortable reading a pattern and have completed one or more projects.

Here you may encounter techniques such as picking up stitches, simple buttonholes, i-cord edges, stripes, and easier textured knitting.

★★★ Intermediate

For those who are comfortable with common knitting techniques and are not afraid to learn something new along the way.

At this level, patterns may include techniques such as German Short Rows, sailor bubbles, i-cord cast on and bind off, fair isle knitting, cables, or knitting from a chart.

★★★★ Experienced

For those who have knitted many projects and can keep track of several techniques simultaneously.

Patterns may include more advanced charts, lace, brioche, advanced cables, more demanding fair isle knitting, or multiple pattern repeats that need to be followed simultaneously.

★★★★★ Very Experienced

For those who enjoy technically challenging projects and complex constructions.

At this level, several advanced techniques may be combined in the same project. You may encounter advanced lace, increases and decreases within a pattern, short rows within patterned knitting, advanced fair isle knitting, or projects where pattern and shaping must be followed simultaneously.
